Petition is addressed to: Residents and Councillors of Streamstown
Cessation of plans to re-zone the only usable Open Space for Clairville Lodge, Streamstown Meadows and surround homes to Community infrastructure.
We the residents of Streamstown Malahide seek the current plans in the Fingal Development Plan for the lands at Clairville Lodge to remain open space.
- The parcel of land requested to re-zone is and has been utilised by our children for sports and games for the past couple of years and over the lockdown provided a huge amenity to the children of Clairville and is also now enjoyed by the children of Streamstown Meadows.
- We understand planning permission was approved for this site but this has expired years ago and it now feels like the developer has decided he can make a choice to rezone an open space for his benefit while not observing the needs of the immediate residents.
- We understand there is a big need for childcare in the area however if this location is considered based on the current strategic objectives of the sustainable building framework, we feel there are much better locations which would promote pedestrian or cyclist access. The current proposed site is only services by Streamstown lane which has no safe pedestrian access and no plans or possibility for upgrade.
- We feel the rezoning of a residential open space would not happen at a mature estate in Malahide or Portmarnock if a developer then felt like they wanted the land rezoned. We would like to be treated fairly as a part of the electoral community.
Reason
If we do not act our children will have nowhere safe to play and the access roads will be unsafe of pedestrians.
