Denmark is the top waste burner in Europe. This means that incineration is a big economic driver for the smallest country in Northen Europe.  
 
The new incinerator in Copenhagen was built under great expectations and one promise: to make bigger benefits in terms of energy efficiency and the environment and to produce 20% more heat and electricity per tonne of waste incinerated than the previous incinerator.  
Nevertheless, the Amarger Resource Center is too big so it needs imported wasto from other countries to run properly. Also, its project management contradicts the municipalities’ own climate plans as CPH 2025 climate plan that includes these four pilars: 
• Energy consumption: Reduce heat and electricity consumption (about 10% and 20% for commercial and residential buildings).  
• Green mobility: Improving public transport. By 2025, according to the CPH 2025 Climate Plan, 70% of all trips in Copenhagen should be on foot, by bike or public transport.  
•City administration: Reducing energy consumption by street lighting and installing solar panels on municipal buildings.  
• Energy production: reducing, at least, an 80% of greenhouse gas.  
 
This plan would be contradictory to the country’s way to generate power. That’s why the organization ‘State of Green’ aims to achieve Denmark’s government reduce the waste burn to make the country a ‘greener’ one. 
 
The 'Zero Waste’ plan 
Zero Waste is a non-for-profit organization committed to make UE a green continent. Their main purpose is clear: to eliminate waste in our society.  
In order to make the government to solve the problem ‘Zero Waste’ has just launched a formal petition in (openpetition.dk - write the whole link when created) for you to sign if you want to take care of our planet and, specially, our country and city.  
You also can find the petition in posters that will be in the train's stations of Copenhagen and brochures the organization will be distributing around the city.
