Wendy Watson, a spokeswoman for Greater Sudbury Utilities, recently addressed claims that the City of Greater Sudbury is hiding C$14 million in costs for Kingsway Entertainment District. But she completely dismissed the allegations last week on Facebook and a website named Sudbury Questions.
The Kingsway Entertainment District project has become a hot topic of discussion in the city, surrounded by controversy or legal challenges since the center's approval. The project, which will be built on the outskirts of the city after a vote by the city council in the summer, will house hockey stadiums, casinos and hotels. 프라그마틱 슬롯 사이트
Mr Watson said the cover-up of the KED cost allegations was clearly wrong and that the website was making quite serious corruption allegations. According to the Sudbury Question website, the city hid approximately $14 million in capital expenditures related to KED in the budget of Greater Sudbury Hydro Inc.
Also, according to the website, Greater Sudbury Hydro wanted to increase customer billing rates. The CA$14 million expenditure is in addition to the entertainment center costs mentioned earlier. In addition, the website claims that Greater Sudbury Utilities has applied to the Ontario Energy Commission for a fare increase for residents of certain intake areas.
Mr Watson said the city is a shareholder of hydroelectric power plants but cannot say how the money is spent, explaining that even if the KED doesn't materialize, GSU's planned work will be done. She also argued that the plan's main opponent, Commissioner Mark Signoretti Ward 1, would not allow KED-related costs to be part of the GSU's budget.
Mr. Cignoretti also commented on the subject, saying it was simply not true that KED money was hidden in the budget. He also added that as a major opponent of the KED, if the money had gone into the budget, who would have solved it earlier. Gentleman argues that GSU has an obligation to treat all partners or customers equally and that those involved in KED will be treated as well.
In September, the council voted to allow all members to start the foundation work at the KED site, and the council voted 7-6 for the site preparation work, and the task will be given to Bot Construction Co., Ltd., which is expected to start work at the site by the end of November this year.
In early October, city councilman Jeff McCosland expressed concern about the lack of written commitments from KED project partners. Council members have even submitted a motion to the city council to negotiate mutual commitments from all parties involved. There is no written agreement between the city and Gateway Casino & Entertainment, so the city council says it should be cautious about proceeding with the project.
