Job permit for foreign non-EU students should be combined with their student visas. By that I mean, when a student gets granted a student visa, he or she should be allowed to work without having to go to the labor office (AMS) for a special work permit every time you get a job for which one hardly earns above €350 per month.
Begründung
As of now, if a foreign non-EU student wants to work, he or she needs to find the job, and then fill out a form together with the employer. Then, the form needs to be sent to the labour office for confirmation so a work permit can be granted. All that takes about 10-14 days and if the work is granted, the employer has to pay €25. This process has to be done every year, as long as the student wants to keep working. This leads to most jobs been lost because most employers do not want to wait for almost 2 weeks before someone can start working as a waiter in a restaurant or working in a storage facility, when the monthly pay is hardly ever more than €350-400. This is not the case for EU students. They can look for a job anytime and start work the same day if they want to and the €25 fee doesn't apply to them. That causes most foreign non-EU students to lose job opportunities. On the Austrian labour office website, it's stated that this is due to supply and demand but it's just a way of saying, they don't want these minial jobs to go to foreign students. It's discrimination. This makes it hard for foreign non-EU students to be able to concentrate fully on their studies because of the financial strain that can be inflicted upon them due to the job restriction. Please help me get this petition through to the parliament, with your votes, so that this discrimination can be addressed and foreign students can have a normal student life.
