Petition is addressed to: Petitionsausschuss des Europäischen Parlaments

The petitioner states that he holds 16 shares in UniCredit SA in Milan, Italy. Being a shareholder, he wanted to nominate a person for the bank’s board of directors. This was rejected on the ground that only the board of directors and shareholders who individually or together with others represent at least 0.5% of the share capital in the form of ordinary shares with voting rights at ordinary general meetings were allowed to make such a proposal. The petitioner considers this to be a violation of the principle of equality, the rule-of-law principle and the principle of democracy in the European Union, EU treaties, the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and EU regulations.
