The government announced on Monday it would build a 94,000 sq m (1.01 million sq ft) temporary venue in Kotai, right next to SJM Holdings' Grand Lisboa Palace casino resort.
"The construction of this [open-air] venue will create favorable conditions for hosting large-scale outdoor shows to attract international-level performances in Macau," the Culture Bureau said in a press release.
Several public services are currently working on preparations at the site, and an open bid will take place before construction begins.
Speaking on the sidelines of a public event on Tuesday, Aoyon told reporters that authorities aimed to conduct tests later this year to test traffic arrangements, crowd control measures, traffic coordination and security procedures.
The government said the venue will have all the "basic facilities and complementary equipment" needed to receive large-scale performances.
Mr. Aoyon made it clear that the promoters of the performances installed at the destination "should be responsible for the stage and other specific requirements of each performance." That is, the stage settings may differ depending on the requirements of each performance.
